WordPress Services

What WordPress services do you offer?

We provide WordPress maintenance, error fixes, security, updates, and speed optimisation. Our maintenance service covers monthly updates, daily monitoring, and routine backups for £99 per month.

Do you build new WordPress websites?

No. We maintain, fix, and improve existing WordPress websites, but we don’t design or build new sites. We can recommend web designers if you need a new website built, and we’re happy to advise on what to look for when choosing a developer. Once your new site is live, we can take over the maintenance and ongoing support.

Can you fix my broken WordPress site?

Yes, if you’re already a maintenance client. Our error fixing service covers common WordPress problems including the White Screen of Death, 404 errors, plugin conflicts, database errors, and memory issues.

How often should WordPress be updated?

WordPress core, plugins, and themes should be updated monthly at minimum. Security patches should be applied as soon as they’re released. Our maintenance service handles all updates for you, including testing to make sure updates don’t break anything.

What’s included in your WordPress maintenance packages?

Our £99 per month maintenance service includes monthly updates for WordPress core, plugins, and themes. It also includes daily uptime monitoring to alert us if your site goes down, routine backups so your content is protected, and error fixes when problems occur.

SEO Questions

What is SEO and why does it matter?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. It’s the process of improving your website so it appears higher in Google search results when potential customers look for your services. Good SEO brings you visitors who are actively searching for what you offer. Unlike paid advertising, organic search traffic doesn’t stop when you stop paying.

How long does SEO take to work?

Most businesses start seeing meaningful improvements within 3-6 months. You might notice some quick wins earlier, particularly for less competitive search terms. SEO isn’t instant because search engines need time to recognise and trust changes to your website.

Can you guarantee first page rankings?

No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. Google considers hundreds of ranking factors, many outside anyone’s direct control. We can guarantee that we’ll implement proven SEO techniques correctly and improve your site’s technical foundations. We can show you measurable improvements in rankings, traffic, and visibility. But promising specific positions would be dishonest.

What’s the difference between technical SEO and on-page SEO?

Technical SEO focuses on your website’s infrastructure. Can Google access your pages? How fast does your site load? Is it mobile-friendly? Are there broken links or duplicate content? On-page SEO focuses on individual page content. Are your page titles and headings optimised? Is your content structured well? Do you have appropriate internal links? Both matter for rankings.

What is an SEO audit?

An SEO audit is a comprehensive review of your website’s search engine health. We examine technical factors like site speed, mobile-friendliness, and crawlability. We check on-page elements like titles, headings, and content structure. We identify problems preventing your site from ranking well and opportunities for improvement.

AI Search and GEO/AEO

What is AI search optimisation?

AI search optimisation helps your business appear in AI-powered search tools like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity. These platforms answer questions directly rather than showing lists of links. They pull information from websites they consider trustworthy and authoritative. AI search optimisation involves structuring your content so AI systems can understand and cite it, building trust signals that AI platforms recognise, and ensuring your business appears when relevant questions are asked.

How is AI search different from Google?

Traditional Google search shows you a list of websites to click through. AI search tools read those websites and generate direct answers. When someone asks ChatGPT a question, it synthesises information from multiple sources and presents a response. Your website might inform that answer, but users don’t necessarily visit your site. This changes how businesses need to think about online visibility. You want AI tools to cite your business as a trusted source when answering relevant questions.

Do I need to worry about ChatGPT and Perplexity?

If your customers might ask AI tools questions related to your industry, yes. AI search adoption is growing rapidly. Many people now ask ChatGPT questions they would previously have typed into Google. If those questions relate to services you provide, you want your business to be mentioned in the responses. Early optimisation gives you an advantage over competitors who haven’t started yet. We recommend treating AI search visibility as part of your overall digital marketing strategy.

What is GEO?

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimisation. It’s the practice of optimising your website content specifically for AI-powered search engines that generate answers rather than showing traditional search results. GEO involves structuring content so AI can easily extract and cite relevant information, using clear question-and-answer formats, including statistics and expert quotes that AI systems tend to reference, and building the authority signals AI platforms look for when selecting sources.

What is AEO?

AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimisation. It focuses on helping your content appear in direct-answer features like Google’s featured snippets, knowledge panels, and AI Overviews. AEO involves formatting content to directly answer common questions, using structured data to help search engines understand your content, and creating concise, authoritative responses that search engines want to feature. GEO and AEO overlap significantly and are often addressed together.

Digital Marketing

What digital marketing services do you offer?

We provide Google Business Profile management, online citation building and digital PR. Our focus is on practical digital marketing that delivers measurable results for small businesses. We don’t offer social media management or paid advertising. We specialise in organic visibility through search engines, both traditional Google and AI-powered platforms. Each service can be purchased separately or combined based on your needs.

What is a Google Business Profile and why does it matter?

Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) is your free business listing on Google. It appears when people search for your business name or services in your area. A well-optimised profile shows your business in Google Maps results and the local pack at the top of search results. For local businesses, your Google Business Profile is often the first thing potential customers see. We help you optimise every element, and ensure your information is accurate and compelling.

What are online citations?

Citations are mentions of your business name, address, and phone number on other websites. Directory listings like Yell, Yelp, and industry-specific sites are common examples. Consistent, accurate citations across many trusted websites help Google trust that your business information is correct. This improves your local search rankings. We audit your existing citations, fix inaccuracies, remove duplicates, and build new citations on relevant directories.

What is digital PR?

Digital PR involves getting your business mentioned and linked to from online publications, news sites, and industry websites. Unlike traditional PR, digital PR focuses on earning links that improve your search rankings. When authoritative websites link to your site, Google sees this as a vote of confidence. Digital PR builds your online reputation while improving your SEO. We handle media outreach and press release writing, starting from £500 per month.

Hosting and Technical

Do you provide web hosting?

No. We don’t sell hosting services. This means our hosting advice is independent and unbiased. We have no financial incentive to recommend any particular provider. Instead, we assess your current hosting, test its performance and security, and tell you honestly whether it’s good enough for your needs. If you need better hosting, we recommend providers that would suit your specific situation.

Can you recommend a good hosting provider?

Yes, after we’ve assessed your needs. Different businesses need different hosting solutions. A small brochure site has different requirements than a busy e-commerce store. We’ll ask about your traffic levels, technical requirements, and budget before making recommendations. We typically recommend UK-based providers with strong WordPress support, reliable customer service, and transparent pricing.

What’s the difference between shared and managed hosting?

Shared hosting puts your website on a server alongside many other websites. It’s cheap but can be slow and less secure because you share resources with others. Managed WordPress hosting is designed specifically for WordPress sites. The hosting provider handles updates, security, and performance optimisation. It costs more but typically delivers better speed, security, and support. For most small business WordPress sites, good managed hosting is worth the extra cost.

Why is my website so slow?

Common causes include poor hosting, unoptimised images, too many plugins, outdated software, no caching, and database bloat. Without analysing your specific site, we can’t say which applies to you. Our speed assessment uses professional tools to identify exactly what’s slowing your site down. We then provide specific recommendations to fix the problems.
